Embedding Six-Sigma into a Company's DNA

The Challenge

GE Capital IT Solutions began as a conglomeration of acquisitions, none of which employed Six Sigma as the way they did business. The challenge was to define Six Sigma and how it worked, gain buy-in at all levels about the value Six Sigma brought to the business, teach the processes and language, and motivate leaders and employees to put Six Sigma into action.

Our role

We participated in Champion and Green Belt training and worked as a member of the executive team to:   

  • Define our core processes and establish priorities about financial targets.
  • Create and launch our Six Sigma initiative across 100 locations to create awareness and buy-in for all leaders and employees.
  • Assist our Black Belts and leaders in reporting and leveraging successes.

Results

  • Within 6 months, leaders understood that Six Sigma was the way we would do business.
  • Within 12 months, employee awareness of Six Sigma and its importance to our business increased by more than 80%, and we were able to demonstrate our progress toward operational and financial goals.
