A New IT Leader Addresses Manager Concerns
The Challenge
A new Chief Financial Officer (CIO) for a Fortune 500 Company heard through the grapevine that managers throughout the company were concerned that she was making changes that might adversely impact them. She decided to create and deliver a presentation that would address these concerns and garner support for her initiatiives.
Our role
We drafted the CIO's speech around a Star Wars theme and worked with her on a variety of creative delivery techniques. The day of her presentation she came out on stage and as she began to speak, the voice of Darth Vadar resonated throughout the room, asking all the difficult questions that the managers were afraid to ask this new leader. As the CIO bantered back and forth in a humorous way with Darth, she was able to:
- Address concerns and questions
- Make people laugh
- Garner the support she wanted
Results
This leader received many comments of appreciation that she took the time to understand manager concerns and address them--and for her creative approach in doing so. Her reputation as an excellent and approachable leader continues to grow.
